I think most of the women out there who experienced (or are experiencing) pregnancy would agree that the first trimester (first three months) is the most challenging (I don't wanna call it difficult) period.
This is because there are many changes occurring in our body as the baby develops, and our body needs to adjust to these changes.
I experienced morning sickness - actually I don't wanna call it just "morning" sickness because almost the whole day I feel nauseated if I smelled something "unpleasant"- be it a good or bad smell, it gives an uncomfortable feeling which triggers nausea and headache anytime of the day.
I also seemed to have a "sour-like" taste in my tastebuds, and feeling sour in my stomach. Being a Chemical Engineer, i thought that eating sweet food might contradict the "sour-taste feeling" (like taking antacids on acidic stomach). I tried to eat sweet fruits such as ripe mango, watermelon and banana. But none of these were able to ease my uncomfortable "sour" feeling.
Later on, a friend of mine told me that what I was experiencing was more of a "craving" - and that I should take food with the same taste that I'm feeling - i.e., if I feel something "sour", I should take sour food (e.g., green mango, dalandan) to "ease the feeling".
At first I was skeptical and I wouldn't wanna do it because personally, I don't like sour fruits. However, because the advise came from a friend who got pregnant twice already, I tried to eat green mango. To my surprise, the uneasy feeling was gone as soon as I took the first bite of green mango! I was really amazed at that time.
I still experienced "megahunger" every 2-3 hours no matter how big or small the main meal that I've taken. I usually wake up at 2 and 4 o'clock in the morning just to eat something that could make my stomach "full" again - bread or rice meals. I'm so thankful to my husband who is very supportive. He wouldn't mind going to the convenience store no matter what time it was just to buy food.
I experienced those things until 4th month of my pregnancy..
